Witness Describes Moment When 'Monster' Attacked Northern Manchester Synagogue

A person who helped securing a Jewish temple in the Manchester area has described how a tragic incident unfolded, leading to the deaths of a pair of community members.

That Thursday, the survivor was within the Heaton Park synagogue when a perpetrator crashed into and attacked with a knife members gathering for a ceremony to commemorate Yom Kippur.

The witness explained that the 'evil' individual tried to break down the entrances of the synagogue, and he remembered barricading the structure with other congregation members.

Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 died in the attack on Thursday, while three others were wounded while trying to protect congregants.

Survivor Description of the Violence

He, who acts as a key figure at the house of worship, described securing the entrances and stated that the perpetrator used blades and outdoor items to attempt entry.

I observed a large, menacing figure ram the main doors, attempting to break them open holding a sharp weapon," he shared with the media.

The single phrase I heard from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

That was all were spoken. We stood within the synagogue and we were declaring 'we are not letting this man in'.

He acted like a crazed, violent individual."

Ceremony Held for Deceased

These remarks came as hundreds of people attended the memorial for Mr Cravitz.

Family members, members from the synagogue group along with Rabbi Daniel Walker, and participants of the wider Jewish community assembled in the local area to pay their respects.

Those present filled the gravesite, with many gathering in the open the chapel in the inclement weather, listening to the proceedings over speakers.

Through a statement issued on the following day, Mr Cravitz's family expressed that he had a helpful nature.

Police Probe and Arrests

Greater Manchester Police stated that Mr Daulby was likely struck by law enforcement rounds as they engaged the assailant shortly after the incident was reported.

The victim, who was recognized by his family as a "hero", was present at a service at the house of worship when the attack occurred.

"He was a beloved brother, caring relative to his four nieces and one nephew and a cherished cousin," his family stated.

Relatives are devastated by the unexpected loss of such a lovely down to earth man.

What he did at the end showed immense heroism and he will always be honored for his heroic act."

Multiple detentions were conducted in regarding the incident, and officials stated that a group were still detained on that time.

All four were arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

Those arrested are two men, in their 30s and apprehended nearby; a 61-year-old woman arrested in Prestwich; and a middle-aged female apprehended elsewhere.

Two additional individuals were let go with no further proceedings, officials announced on Saturday.
