Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
